An Post, Ireland’s postal operator, is upgrading its installation of GIRO’s GeoRoute optimization software. GeoRoute helps postal operators in their entire planning and optimization process for the last-mile mail and parcel operations – from strategic, long-term planning to dynamic optimization on the day of operations.

An Post has been relying on GIRO’s solutions to plan and optimize mail and parcel operations since 2002. This upgrade will give the operator new planning capabilities, making it easier to adjust plans for volume fluctuations as well as for different days of the week and periods of the year.

The upgraded GeoRoute installation’s centralized architecture will enable better synchronization of planning activities, making it easier to monitor plans on a management level and take rapid decisions.

The project will introduce more automated processes and better integration with other An Post systems to reduce the time required for route-planning activities. The upgraded system will improve workflow to make it easier and quicker to change plans and revise routes.
