Umove, Denmark’s largest privately owned bus public transport operator, has chosen GIRO’s HASTUS software to optimize all Umove’s scheduling and operations activities for crews and vehicles.
The agency had determined that its previous solution’s optimization algorithms were not powerful enough to produce the necessary efficiencies. After a rigorous procurement exercise that included proofs of concept of competing solutions, Umove opted for a HASTUS installation with a range of modules to address its scheduling and operations requirements.
“Efficient scheduling and operations are crucial for the well-being and high performance of our employees and our company,” said Tim Valbøll, Chief Operating Officer of Umove. “We were impressed by the clear superiority of the optimization results that HASTUS produced for us. We expect HASTUS to make a major contribution to the continued high quality of Umove’s public transport services.”
Umove identified several other factors that led it to choose GIRO’s solution, especially the fact that HASTUS is industry-proven optimization software for public transportation, whose algorithms take full account of complex payroll rules and collective bargaining agreements. Additional aspects that the agency noted as persuasive were the strong client focus and responsiveness of GIRO’s highly qualified team, and the advanced tools in HASTUS for electric-bus scheduling and operations.
“We are very pleased that Umove has chosen GIRO and HASTUS, particularly considering the thorough process that led to the decision – which included two proof-of-concept projects,” stated Odd-Jørgen Sagdahl, GIRO’s Director for the Nordic Market. “HASTUS has proven itself again to be the preferred optimization software suite for public transit operators. We look forward to working closely with Umove and to supporting them in achieving their goals for the company and their customers.”
Umove A/S is Denmark’s largest privately owned public transport operator and the country’s third-largest bus public transport operator, with more than 1,000 employees and 600 buses operating over 40 million kilometres a year. The company serves passengers across the country, providing urban and intercity bus services under contracts with public transport authorities.
