GIRO’s HASTUS software solution has been chosen by SNCF TER to cover the processes of designing the transport offer and planning, optimizing and scheduling resources, thereby providing the rail operator with an integrated, high-performance system for planning its operations. SNCF TER (Transport Express Régional) is the SNCF Voyageurs entity serving the regions of France, with more than 8,200 train runs per day and 27,000 crew members and 2,250 trainsets.
The project forms part of an initiative to transform SNCF TER’s processes and tools, with the goal of building transport plans that meet the needs of the regions and travellers. Implementing HASTUS will allow SNCF TER to deliver the service expected by the regions and to continue making the most of its expertise in regional network operations in the context of the French rail markets opening to competition.
“This project is fundamental to TER’s business”, said Frank Lacroix, Managing Director of TER. “It will ensure that our service offer is delivered as a robust offer, optimized in economic terms. We are proud to be partnering with experts who are global leaders in planning.”
“GIRO thanks SNCF TER for its confidence, which underlines our continuing relationship with SNCF Voyageurs,” stated Jean Aubin, GIRO’s President and CEO. “We have increased our research and development efforts in the rail sector significantly in recent years, to design solutions that respond to the specific challenges facing rail operators. We are happy that our innovations have been recognized by this world-class operator.”
GIRO is a world leader in software solutions for planning and operating passenger rail services. The HASTUS solution is used by major rail operators, including MTA in New York, Keolis Commuter Services in Greater Boston, Queensland Rail in Australia, SNCB in Belgium and Arriva in Denmark.
In France, GIRO is the SNCF Group’s chosen provider of software for planning and train and crew scheduling for the commuter trains in the Paris region (Transilien network), long-distance trains (TGV INOUI and TGV OUIGO) and regional trains (TER).
