Deployment of the HASTUS solution by software maker GIRO has begun at RATP (Régie Autonome des Transports Parisiens). Selected at the outcome of an international request for proposals, HASTUS will allow RATP to optimize designing the transport offer for its bus and tram networks. RATP ranks among the largest public transport agencies, operating more than 4,500 buses and the largest bus and tram network in France.
With this project, RATP aims to undertake the transformation of its information system towards greater agility. Acquiring HASTUS will allow the agency to replace in-house tools with a flexible and integrated solution. The first stage, enabling RATP to carry out simulations, has already been in production since September 2018.
“One of RATP’s main considerations is to adapt to a constantly changing environment,” noted Benoit Philippe, Manager of Surface-Network Production Engineering at RATP. “This step forward stems from our intention to modernize our offer and to deliver a level of service matching the best international standards, today and tomorrow.”
“We are very pleased to be working with RATP to replace its offer-design tool,” stated Jean Aubin, President and CEO of GIRO. “We believe that the flexibility of our software suite, the experience of our expert team and the durability of our solution contributed to RATP’s decision. Public transport in the Paris region will be facing significant challenges in the coming years. We are looking forward to supporting RATP as it transforms itself to meet these challenges.”
RATP will also be using the new system to facilitate managing different types of vehicles in its fleet, including introducing electric buses and bio-NGV. By 2025, RATP plans to acquire a 100% clean fleet in the Paris region. This transformation will allow the agency to reduce its carbon footprint by 50% and to become the first fleet of environmentally friendly buses in Europe.
GIRO, specialized in developing and implementing software solutions for the public transport industry, serves clients in more than 25 countries. In France alone, GIRO’s HASTUS solution is deployed at more than 90 sites, including the SNCF Transilien network and the OUI.SNCF high-speed train service.
